Alice in Wonderland Unbirthday Party {Activities} Theme: Alice in Wonderland; Guest list: Girls, ages 15-18 As you might see in the photos, one fun thing to do for a crazy party like Alice in Wonderland is to ask guests to come in wacky outfits.  I wore a prom dress with one crazy sock and one silk glove.  My friend Christa wore a t-shirt with a wide zebra belt, fur-lined wrap, and flower hair clip. Crack the Cards What you'll need: Last week's string of cards ; cell phone(s); pencils or pens; scrap paper; prize (optional; I used a gift-wrapped bottle of scented lotion) What to do: Give each guest a piece of paper and something to write with.  Make sure all the guests have a cell phone or can share with someone.  Tell them that there is a secret message hidden in the card garland and the first person to crack the code and write down the correct message wins.  Have fun!

Boys' Piñata Party {Food + Favors} Theme: Piñatas and candy; Guest list: Boys, ages 6-10 The lollipop ice cream cone centerpiece counted as food, and the candy from the mini piñatas doubled as favors, as did the prize candy from the punch box .  But we also had special piñata favor bags and some very special... Piñata Cookies! Boys' Piñata Party {Activities} Theme: Piñatas and candy; Guest list: Boys, ages 6-10 Scavenger Hunt I don't have any photos of this activity, but basically any scavenger hunt will work.  For my brother's birthday, all his guests were his Sunday School classmates, so I wrote down names of Bible characters.  The boys had to figure out what object or place would go with that character and then their next name would be hidden there.  For example, a paper reading "Mary, Mother of Jesus" led to a baby doll, while "Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego" led to the oven.  (Our version of a 'fiery furnace.'  A fireplace would work, too.) Rapunzel Slumber Party {Favors} Theme: Disney's Tangled;  Guest list: Girls, ages 2-8 Rosebud Hairbands What you'll need: Green felt, pink or red or other flower-color felt, cloth ribbons, hairbands, hot glue gun and sticks What to do:  Cut a sort of very pointy heart shape to resemble two leaves, one shape per hairband.  (I free-handed it.)  Then cut two long, thin strips of your flower-color felt.  Gluing as you go, roll these up to resemble roses.  Then glue them side by side onto a leaf shape. Cut two equal lengths of the same ribbon and fold the ends close to each other around a hairband, gluing in place.  Then glue the back of the leaf shape on the hairband and ribbons, where the ribbons are attached to the hairband. I've decided, for however long it takes, to replace The Pinterest Report with my new series, DIY Party Diva!  It's similar in that it shares projects that (usually) I've found on Pinterest, with pictures, instructions, and my thoughts.  It's different in that it focuses on parties I've planned/hosted and will not include a focus on the pins and original links, although I'll do my best to link back to original sources of everything. To kick things off, next week I'll share projects from a Rapunzel Slumber Party I planned for two sweet little girls I used to babysit.  :)  Meanwhile, check out this post from a year or so ago explaining my party-planning process.  It'll make things a bit clearer as I share my party skills throughout the series.
