The LA Shop: Chocolate Fountain {Review + Coupon}

Image
I adore chocolate.  I mean totally, completely love the stuff.  We're talking a chocolate addiction here. So, when a lady from  The LA Shop  offered me a chance to review one of the products - of which a mini chocolate fountain was a choice - naturally I gave an enthusiastic yes! The fountain arrived in a rather foreign-looking box and the packaging was a little beat up.  There was a bit of a styrofoam explosion when I unpacked it...

Maple Syrup Candy Fail + Candy Kick Caramel Recipe

Image
Has anyone here read the Little House on the Prairie books?  Or seen the show?  I've never read through/watched through them, but I've read excerpts in literature classes and my family has several DVDs from the show. One thing I've always wanted to try is making maple syrup candy.  That was from one of the early books, which I read an excerpt of in elementary school.  The whole Ingalls family got together during the maple-sap season and made syrup and maple candy.  Basically, they boiled the sap into syrup and then poured some hot, "waxing" syrup onto a pan of snow.

I have no recipes of my own.  I'm a failure as a homemaker-in-training, I know.  But my friend Kathryn has tons of recipes, plus an entire 300-something recipes pinned on Pinterest to try.  While her husband was deployed, we spent a ton of time together and tried a few recipes.  One of our favorites: Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Crescents!

Guest Post at Just Us Girlz

Hello lovely readers!  Just wanted to tell you that I guest posted at my friend AnnaKate's blog, Just Us Girlz , on Sunday.  Topic?  The parallels between America and the Hunger Games. :) "Why is the Hunger Games so popular outside of the young adult world? This series teaches the reader. It makes a person think about topics like freedom, government, choice, and the morality of humans and humans' entertainment. It pushes you to wonder about the things we've been desensitized to today in the real world. Whether or not Suzanne Collins started out to write a critique of today's world into her books, she ended up with one. Not to mention the characters are nothing like any stereotypes - every single one has a life story, weaknesses and strengths, and reasons for every action that are true to life and believable."
