When it comes to mental illness, I like to be the champion. The advocate. The information bank just waiting to enlighten and educate you. A source of awareness, a spark for understanding. But the whole world of mental illness and living with one is just as new to me as it is to many of the people I'm trying to help understand. I'm still learning, and now that I'm back at school, it feels like a crash course. And I think a lot of people with mental illnesses can relate.

Remember Grammarly? I've worked with them a little in the past here on this blog. This week featured International Literacy Day, and to celebrate, Grammarly designed an infographic about literacy. I thought you, my lovely readers, might be interested in their results.

I find all the news and opinions on the recent AshleyMadison.com hack intriguing. As a future journalist, I figured I'd throw my thoughts into the ring. For those who don't know, the basic story here:  a website called AshleyMadison.com was hacked earlier this summer. AshleyMadison.com is a site advertised and known for facilitating marital affairs, but its purpose is just discreet hook-ups. The hackers, who call themselves Impact Team, posted some users' information and some of the website's source code to prove the hack was legitimate. Then they threatened to release the names, addresses, emails, credit card information, and sexual preferences of the 35-40 millions users if the parent company, Avid Life Media, didn't shut the site down completely and immediately. ALM did not post a warning to its users on the site and did not shut the site down. So this week, the hackers made good on their promise and released all the details of all those users on the world wide...

Hello, my lovely readers! Today I have a bit of housekeeping followed by a marvelous bit of news to share with you all. First of all: I've officially given up on The College Chronicles. I don't know the first thing about shooting or editing videos, I'm a perfectionist never happy with my own work, and even I'm bored by my own footage of average college life. In other words, I'm just not cut out for vlogging. I'll leave that to the YouTube stars from now on. Now, on to the really big news! Drumroll, please! I am releasing...  a new book... of poetry! It's called Rain In December. It comes out March 31. You can tune in next week to see the beautiful shiny cover! Until then, my lovely readers!

Some of you may remember the review I did of Grammarly a while back. For those of you that don't, it's an online grammar-checking service. Anyway,  Grammarly conducted a study with 3,000+ participants to settle an existential question that has been plaguing mankind for centuries: “Which gender has the better writers?” They published the results in an infographic, shown here: Obviously, there's a lot of information here. I LOVE that women are better writers than men, especially considering the history of literature -- oh, the irony! I'd have to say I definitely agree with the results for women on most, if not all, of these questions. What do you think? What did you find most interesting? New this week: I'm going on a missions trip! Maybe. If I can raise the funds in time, I'll be going with my church's adult missions trip group to the Dominican Republic.
