Spring Cleaning Giveaway!

Image
Good morning, my lovely readers! According to the calendars, spring has been upon us for nearly a month now. But ask anyone who's spent any time in Indiana, and they'll agree: spring is an elusive and mysterious creature here. So I don't think it's too late to do a little spring cleaning. I've got a lot of big life changes coming up. In the next few months, I'll be graduating college and hopefully starting a new job. In preparation for these big life changes, I've been combing through my belongings and weeding out stuff I no longer want or need. Most of it has been thrown out or donated to a local secondhand store, but there are a few nicer items I've decided to save for you! The Prizes I have five prize packs for five winners. Each prize pack will include one signed paperback copy of my book Sixteen  and one or two mystery items that correspond to the prize theme: Writer, Reader, Fangirl, I Miss Christmas, or Bird Lover. The Rules This is on...

Self-Publishing By the Numbers

Image
Hello lovely readers! Happy 2015! I've given up on apologizing for disappearing for weeks at a time, because the fact that I'm even still blogging during college is an accomplishment in itself. So! Let's just jump into today's topic, yes? Self-publishing: the numbers! When you discuss writing and publishing with the general public, there's a lot of strange ideas floating out there. You've got people who think every semi-successful writer is living off the paycheck of J.K. Rowling or Nicholas Sparks. You've got people who think writing isn't a real job, no matter how much time and work and initial investment you pour into your work. And then you've got people like a guy I heard about recently who is retiring his job this January to become a writer. He plans to marry his girlfriend, buy a house, and start a family on his writing income... and so far he's got exactly one chapter and a nightmare of a plot mess to go off. C...

November Notes and College Chronicles Prequel!

Image
I know most of my recent posts have just been updates, but I have a few more things to let you all know, lovely readers, before we move on to meatier posts. Thanks for having patience with me. :) The day I bought fake tattoos and Augusta and I made ourselves into The Chosen Ones First of all: don't forget to enter the giveaway for a paperback copy of Sixteen ! Open to all countries; ends on Saturday, November 8. Next up: so far, the Inkshares project for World of Shadows is not going well at all. It's disappointing, I'll admit, but I wasn't really sure what to expect, so it's not a huge deal. If I don't make it to my goal, I'll just go back to my original plan of self-publishing World of Shadows through the same process I used with Sixteen . Either way, it will be on virtual shelves before 2015 ends! Third: Disclaimer: Yes, I am completely mental. But I decided on the day it started to go ahead and try NaNoWriMo again this year. For those of...

Updates: Coming Up and Giveaway

Hello, my lovely readers. I apologize for all the silence this month. Time just flits by you so easily in college. I have a few posts in the works for November, so hopefully you'll be hearing from me at least a couple time next month. I also wanted to let you all know about my next GoodReads giveaway! Yes, there's going to be another one. So many readers were interested during my previous giveaway at the beginning of October, that I decided to run another giveaway for the first week of November! The same rules apply -- one copy, one winner, open to anyone on GoodReads regardless of country. In fact, the last winner was from Macedonia -- so what's to keep it from being you this time around? Never hurts to try! For those of you who have already read my book, I invite you to share your opinions online. Write a review on Amazon or your own blog. Add it on GoodReads. Send your friends the giveaway. (Don't we all love the chance for free books?) Even if you didn't...

A Change of Plans

I was supposed to have a guest post in for you today, but a few of my guest bloggers this year have been behind schedule. Therefore, my lovely readers, today you get lucky. I felt it wouldn't be right to just leave you with nothing today, so piggybacking off yesterday's cover reveal for Sixteen , today I have for you... the back cover copy! Yes, here it is! The official summary/blurb for my debut Christian novella, Sixteen : Nicole "Nikki" Johnson has never gotten along with her mother, so when she meets a great new guy, it's no surprise that Matt's age is all her mom sees. Today we're taking a break from the party to celebrate Christmas. However, before you go back to opening presents and sipping hot chocolate, I have a gift for you, my lovely readers.... SURPRISE! It's cover reveal day! This, friends, is the beauty that is my first book cover. All credit for the lovelies goes to Melody Simmons at  http://ebookindiecovers.com/ . Sixteen Update

Hello, my lovely readers!  Some of you have been asking various questions about Sixteen , my Christian coming-of-age novella that will be coming out as an ebook.  Others may have noticed the lack of information concerning the book, or the book's "On Hiatus" status right now, on my Books page.  Today I'm here to answer questions and alleviate concerns. COUNTDOWN CLOCKS Why is Sixteen on hiatus?   Sixteen is on hiatus simply because it's in the editing stage and I'm focused on a different project right now, a contest entry that's in first draft status.  "On Hiatus" definitely doesn't mean I won't get back to that project, and it doesn't necessarily mean that my break from that project will be long.  It just means I'm not working on it at this moment.

This Is For Real

After It's Official! and a hint I left in The Liebster Award, I have a big, big, big announcement for you. This is bigger than my first rejection. This is cooler than when my blogging hero wrote a blog post inspired by me. Yes, this is even better than when I received  my own newsletter column. And it's almost greater than the amazing, incredible, fantastic trip I went on this past summer. Guess what?  Seriously, before you read more, guess in the comments!
